What Is A Herniated Disc?
A herniated disc is most often involved when Canadian patients are suffering from back pain or an unusual weakness that is located in the lower part of your back. This type of pain usually comes on quickly and is constantly present in the patient. A herniated disc happens when the padding that is usually between the vertebras in your spine is out of place which allows your discs to make contact with each other causing back pain. The most common accidents that cause a herniated disc include slip and fall accidents and also activities that cause repeated strain on your vertebras.
Once the padding has been removed a herniated disc can cause more damage and back pain as the disc loses the elasticity that it commonly has. This can result in the herniated disc being pushed out of the normal resting place which can result in serious spinal damage. The most common symptoms of a herniated disc include pinched nerves, back pain, and lower body weakness.
If you are suffering from chronic back pain and are worried that you may have a herniated disc than you should book an appointment with your doctor. Depending on the severity of the herniated disc your doctor could recommend treatments ranging your anti inflammatory drugs, heating pads, therapy, and more than likely several massage therapy sessions.
